Glaucoma

A complex and asymptomatic pathology that affects millions of people

Glaucoma is the second cause of blindness in the world and affects 70 million people. It is the first cause of blindness in Europe and the USA, and affects 10 million patients on these two continents although more than half are unaware they have glaucoma.

Glaucoma is the second cause of blindness in the world and affects 70 million people.

This degenerative disease of the optical nerve is due to a poor evacuation of the aqueous humor in the eye. The liquid is produced by an organ called the ciliary body and is drained via the trabeculum. In healthy eyes not affected by glaucoma, production and drainage are naturally balanced.

On the other hand, the equilibrium is broken in patients with glaucoma. This causes a rise in the intraocular pressure (IOP) which induces damage to the optical nerve with subsequent progressive loss of the visual field.

This chronic and asymptomatic pathology, once diagnosed, can be treated and followed in various ways.

EYE TECH CARE has developed the only medical procedure to reduce the intraocular pressure that addresses all patients with progressive glaucoma, irrespective of their prior treatment
