Publication of Meta-analysis in European Ophthalmic Review
Professor Philippe Denis, Chairman of French Glaucoma Society presents the results of a meta-analysis from 7 clinical studies, with 251 patients (53% had refractory glaucoma and 47% were naïve of surgery). This article compares the second-generation probe with the first generation, and the results between refractory patients and patients naive of surgery.
The key points show that:
- Safety and tolerability are good; no persistent hypotony, phthisis or induced cataract were observed.
- Higher efficacy was observed with the second-generation probe
- 64% responder patients and 35% mean IOP reduction
- Retreatment is possible after month-3, if necessary
