Our Mission
our mission is to make new therapeutic developments available to patients suffering from eye diseases which provide effective well tolerated, sustainable treatments benefiting from the latest technological advances.
Our mission also leads us to design treatment methods in which technological innovations provides significant patient benefit particularly in terms of safety and efficacy. Our work is guided daily through conditions which guarantee our results and reproducibility.
Finally we are committed to a patch of designing instruments which meet new public health requirements in terms of reduced cost, increase efficacy, better safety and improved quality of life for patients.
Our Objective
EyeTechCare has developed a new medical device called EYEOP1. This leading edge technology device is the result of several years of joint research with INSERM which has led to the development of an instrument operating using High Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU).
EYEOP1 is an ultrasound device which offers a non-invasive treatment for refractory glaucoma. This new method is extremely accurate, simple and only takes one minute.
Our aim is to make EYEOP1 available to the largest number of people suffering from glaucoma whose previous treatments have not stopped the development of the disease and therefore has seriously threatened their vision.
History of the company
EyeTechCare was born from an idea by Fabrice Romano, which emerged spontaneously in 2006 from two simple observations :
* glaucoma is still an unresolved eye disease which affects approximately 65 million people throughout the world and because of this, is the second leading cause of blindness according to the WHO.
* the considerable advances made in HIFU have enabled treatment applications to be envisaged in ophthalmology in which miniaturisation and extreme accuracy are needed.
Faced with this apportunity, the project saw the light in 2007 and in 2008 resulted in the formation of the company.
Fabrice Romano, designer of the method, then brought together a team, which is multi-disciplinary and highly experienced in Medical Devices (a total of more than 40 years experience) with Laurent Farcy and Philippe Chapuis. Together, all three became the co-founders of EyeTechCare.
The company now has a unique and original know how, which has enabled it to form a portfolio of 5 patents.
