Treatments

Despite the large number of treatments available, this common eye disease remains an unresolved problem.

Medical treatments (eye drops), prescribed first line have many disadvantages, notably lack of adherence, difficulty instilling the eye drop and poor tolerance because of adverse side effects.

The ophthalmologists often have to adjust the drugs prescribed or change the treatment strategy.

Once the medical treatment is no longer sufficient, before surgery, laser treatment may be offered. These treatments are effective for a certain time although how long an effect is sustained is disputed. After laser treatment a large number of patients found themselves being offered surgery.

There are many surgical techniques and all are extremely complex. Despite the very considerable progress in surgical techniques, their results are relatively unpredictable and rather variable.

EyeTechCare has developed a  new treatment for refractory glaucoma , which offers an effective, sustainable and well tolerated solution.

Excessive pressure

Legend :

* removal of aqueous humour is reduced.

* production of the aqueous humour remains constant.

* accumulation of aqueous humour causes a rise in intra-ocular pressure

The rise in pressure has repercussions on the whole globe of the eye.
